SHHHHH....
Cold and flu season is upon us,
both hubby and I have been hit hard,
so the past few days we have been eating
nothing but soups.
Our favorite home remedy,
Ginger Tea
4 cups water
4-5 inch piece of thick fresh ginger root
1 cinnamon stick
6 cloves
1 star anise
1/2 cup lemon juice
1/2 cup honey
1 green tea bag or tsp green tea leaves
dash of cayenne pepper
bring to boil cover, shut off heat let sit for 20 minutes
strain into a thermos
and sip thru-out the day
it sure helps,
Did you know that,
Antibiotics are not prescribed for colds and flu
because they are viral. Antibiotics only kill bacteria.
Do you have a home remedy to share?
I sure would appreciate it.
Have a blessed day,
Lady of the Mote

I hope you feel better soon.
My mom always made hot black tea with milk and sugar. I crave it when I'm ill.
Get better quickly!! The soup sounds good to me.
It's hit us too! And I thought Feb. was the month it would hit...
Hope you feel better!
I hope you all feel better soon! The tea sounds really good. We take a lot of Airborne and it seems to work for us.

The minute I start to feel icky I suck on a zinc lozenge and I take garlic capsules daily. So far I've not gotten too sick. I'm sure the garlic is the answer. I buy the odorless garlic capsules.
This is my first visit to yoru blog and I wanted to say hello. The tea sounds wonderful. Thanks for posting it.
Merry Christmas Dear!

I'm sorry you're not feeling well! My favorite is a mug of hot water with a teaspoon each of lemon juice and honey. Easy, good, and effective. I also love the feeling of orange juice on my throat. Last time I had a cold, I juiced a bunch of tangerines and it was sourly satisfying.
Hope you fell better soon!
I am so sorry that you and your husband are ill. Unfortunately I do not have a foolproof remedy, but when I have a cold I like to take a teaspoonful of honey (every now and then) to ease the throat, and also to suck a clove of garlic in the mouth (soothing too, but also quite smelly to those around me...) I hope you will be feeling better soon.
I hope you and the hubby are feeling better. I just found your fun blog. Thanks for the remedy.
